With the work on Coal Island now very much “a happening thing”, the Trust has launched an initiative inviting members of the public to become supporters of the project.

Over the summer of 2005, 30,000 brochures were distributed through a number of outlets and about 10,000 with the January edition of the NZ Wilderness Magazine. The rest were distributed through outlets such as charter boat and tourism operators in Fiordland and Southland and visitor information centres.

For an annual subscription - $25 for individuals or families, $50 for commercial organisations , subscribers will receive 4 editions of this newsletter. As well as generating additional income for the Trust the initiative also has other benefits.

  • It will help raise public awareness of the project
  • It may attract other sponsorship and donations
  • It could provide a source for volunteers for future work
